Bandsaw or scms?
I am sure this question has been asked previously but I have been away for a time.
I have to work sitting down nowadays and wish to make small boxes, nameplates and so on with the scroll saw.
Would it be better to buy a bandsaw or an scms, please?

Not quite the same circumstances but I have an SCMS and I wish I also had a band saw.
Cheers,
Jim

Small boxes and nameplates etc? Wouldn't even worry about the SC, just the MS. Save yourself a few hundred there and buy a little BS

Buy a SCMS, if if just buy a MS you will rue the day they are too limited in their use and yes, get a small bandy as well

Thanks for your advice, you coves, much appreciated.
Shall let the question simmer for a couple of weeks. To be honest, am leaning towards getting a small example of both.
Bill.

Depends on what you mean by small, I use both for boxes.
SCMS for docking to length and cutting mitres. Bandsaw for ripping before thicknessingCheers

Bandsaw or scms
A scms for box making is my preferred method. I have a small workshop and have found the Makita LS 0714 to be perfect. It is extremely accurate out of the box and low on dust manufacture when hooked up to a shop vac. I know you will find it a little expensive but it is well worth the extra dollars, cannot praise it enough. Have attached some photos of the type of boxes I have made using it.

Thank you both. The Makita is very tempting, Bill.
