Making a Bed
I am thinking of building a bed.
Does anyone know where I can buy the hardware for attaching the rails to the head & foot?

There are different systems. I have a couple of sets of various types put aside that I will never use. You are welcome to a set if one of them matches your needs.

I also have a few sets from Hardware stores I can give you - they tend to make the bed very noisy as they do not hold the components tight enough. I ended up making my own from a strip of 25mm aluminium angle

I bought mine from the fixtures company Hafele (Häfele hardware technology: Furniture fittings, door fittings, architectural hardware, access control with Dialock) which do mail order. I totally over engineered my bed design and doubled up the brackets on all of the stretchers and there is minimal creaking which, I concur, can be an issue with these brackets. I got some really solid steel brackets to connect the sides but I don't remember if that was also Hafele or not.

Bed Hardware
Hi Richard F .
If your needs are not met by the prior offers I suggest you look at the on- line cataloges of the three big European cabinet and furniture hardware suppliers represented in Oz. They are Hettich, Hafele and Blum. If you strike problems in doing that PM mail me and I'll look up the Cat No. references for you. Cheers Old Pete

I used Maxilock brackets on a king single bed that I finished recentrly for my grandaughter.
They are great.

I used mortise and tenon joints bolted together with cross steel dowels and alan screws, obtainable at most hardware stores. Just make them good and tight and they don't creak or move.

I have made a QUEEN size bed for my in-laws, and used the system that DUKE , mentions , .
My Father in-law was a big man ( Passed away ) and the bed never creaked , so the system works well and is solid.
