    Thumbs up Bed brackets

The best system to use are known as "Maxilocks".
A rock solid sytem that is now pretty much an "Industry standard"!
I have sold countless beds with these fitted and am yet to experience ANY problems with them.
Bunnings sell them at some of their stores or, a decent bedding store might carry them. approx $20 - $25 a full set. (ie: 4 pr)
It makes NO difference how many times bed is knocked down/assembled, they perform brilliantly.
If you get hold of them e-mail me & I'll give you fitting tips!
    Regards Sandman.

Picked these up from Timbercon today (a set of 4 obviously), is this what you call a Maxilock?

They look like a good solid system they are on special right now for $16.90. When the temperature drops i'll try fitting them.

Any fitting tips would be appreciated

    Cheers

    Smile fitting tips

Hi Davo, those are an adjustable height system (good but not as good as genuine "Maxi locks").
They will do the job just fine.
When you mount them, onto ends of your side rails, you should allow approx 1mm gap b/w it seating on post bracket. This will ensure that when tightened, they will pull side rails tight onto posts. If fitted flush with end of rails, you WILL eventually find that no matter how tight they are, there will be "wobble" in the head & foot.

    Good Luck.
    Regards Sandman.

I posted a picture of the brackets I used on the "Jarrah Bed" (see Woodwork Pictures on this forum). They were purchased at Carba-tec. I am very happy with them.

They have had lots of time to prove themselves a failure (e.g. orgies most nights with 27 couples to the one bed, plus the antics of my 10 year old son who insists on using the bed as a trampoline), but are as tight a fit as the day I installed them some 6 months ago.

    Regards from Perth

Default Are these the ones you mean

Sandman, could you put us out of suspense by confirming if these are the brackets you mean ?

These ones are similar to the one's Dave has bought but without the vertical adjustment. I think - if I read you correctly - what you are saying is that these are your preferred type because when you disassemble and reassemble the bed it is the metal-to-metal joint that is dislocated, not a screw in wood.

These were $12 for a set of 4 from some place in Rydalmere - will get the name and address if anyone is interested.

    cheers

    Arron,
They are the ones I've used - can't recall their exact name but I bought them through forty winks.

I have fitted the bed brackets that I got from Timbecon, and am very impressed.

I left the recommended gap (thanks sandman) and am sure they'll stand up to a lot of traffic

I'm glad the Carba-tech brackets worked well for you Derek, I think the additional support you gave them must be the key as mine quickly ended up in the bin badly bent.

My problem with them seemed to be that the top hook has little lateral support, I tried drilling through the tab and installing a lag bolt but that was a bodge and not satisfactory.

    Cheers

    Thumbs up

    Hi Aaron,
Just to confirm that Yes, those are the genuine patented Maxilock brackets.
Beware of the immitation! How to pick them is they have not got the mitred corner on the side rail bracket. Instead they have a rounded corner. I have noted over the years that the problem they have is that the holes are slightly misaligned for the grub screws and can cause cross threading.
    Regards Sandman.

    Smile bed fittings

Made a queen anne size bed recently and used Hafele fittings. They have an office in every state I think. I've used a lot of their stuff. Their catalogue is worth getting for woodworkers.
