Default Bed brackets, can i get these in australia? Are there better styles?

    Hi all,

BED BRACKETS, CAN I GET THESE IN AUSTRALIA? ARE THERE BETTER STYLES?

    I have used these http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...bed%20hardware

brackets in my own KS bed and am now helping brother in-law build a bed. Can I get these in australia, I have tried carbatec and timbecon websites but can't seem to find them.

I like them concealed like this and the bed is rock solid. Postage for 20 odd dollars worth of stuff (once you add in tie bar brackets) is now $30 from the US. When it should be probably $8-10 due to the way Rockler now post items.

Would be keen to hear my options.

    Thanks
    SN

    Default bed Brackets

    Hi Shannon,

Look in the Hafele and Hettich catalogues. They both have a range of the product you seek. Old Pete

Perhaps the mods could move this post to a more appropriate forum, then you will receive a lot more replies. This forum is for woodturning .

It was in the Woodturning - General Forum. As GJ asked, I moved it across here.

The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Those are, in my opinion, not a very good bracket. Look at Maxilocks instead (do a web search). They do up real tight and stay that way. You can get them from Wilson and Bradley p/l, Syd or melb. Cost $15.22 per set (ie one bed). they are the heavy duty version of the ones offered by Elraco.

+1 I used the Maxilocks when building my son's toddler bed and they are well made and rock solid, I'll use them again for the double bunk I'm currently making them

I think the subject of bed brackets was pretty much done in this thread
    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...7349&highlight

Worth noting is the tip which Sandman gives wherein you should fit the bracket that goes on the rail just a bit back from the end, so that the parts of the bracket are every so slightly forced together.

I got mine from Hafle - or via a good hardware store near you.
