Bed frame hardware
Hi, I’m designing a build of messmate queen size bed for my daughter. This will be made up with 20 and 28 mm thick boards x 200 , joined at corner.
I saw that Festool has domino hardware using the machine to bore mortises and the hardware pulls the corner together. It can be done on the inside so that it’s virtually hidden. Bit like those cheap knock down fittings used on IKEA.
BUT $$$$. First there’s the hardware outlay and a special drilling jig as well. Just for one bed I estimate $400 +- 100.
Does any one know of a system or method that can be used for joining these corners “invisibly”. Something knock-down combined with domino 500’s biscuits cos this bed needs to be lugged up to 3rd floor. Not by me if I can help it."World's oldest kid"

Hafele Maxifix, they're basically a giant pin-and-cam system. I first saw it assembling an Ikea bed for a cousin, I then promptly stole the idea to use at work. I built dozens, if not hundreds, of beds using it and I'm quite comfortable saying that it is the best knock down system you can get; dowels or domino for alignment and these to clamp it tight. I've even used it on 4-posters and it's rock solid; zero creak, zero rattle. You do need to be quite accurate with your drilling distance though, otherwise the cam won't work properly.

Another Way
Here is another way of doing the bed frame corner joint that does not use any hardware.

this is a similar picture of what I’m building except the lower legs will be enclosed with an inset kicker/skirt. The hardware I need will be for corners at foot of bed so there will be four corners to take care of."World's oldest kid"

how often are you going to be knocking it down, if its only the once Can't you just use table apron brackets or similar?

Thanks but wouldn’t work in this case, no leg at corner.
