Default I do not believe the woodworm story

Yesterday I found a woodworm hole (which wasn't there a few days ago) on a bit of waste black walnut that I had been using as a screw clamp.

I cut down through the worm hole.

I have now exposed the worm track in this picture.

The larvae obviously started life at the thin end of that track and exited at the larger end.

I don't believe a beetle penetrated that timber and planted its offspring (whatever it is called).

I suspect the life was formed when that timber was at its younger stage and the offspring was most probably laid then.

I think this might be a conspiracy by timber growers/merchants to deny any responsibility for the damages this situation is going to cause and misinform us that the worm was created on our own premises.

I am quite happy to accept this is a controversial view and I am expecting some flak.

I have also telephoned around for an interest rate for a bond maturing and got quotes of less than 1.5%.
So I am in a fighting mood. Its legalized robbery, inflation here is over 3%.
So thats worms and interest rates at the moment.

The first sign of buggies eating your wood are tiny piles of dust on the floor.
Seems they like the nicer woods the best too. And, they are very hard to discourage or kill.

I know a bloke who would like to place a bet on that...LOL.

I had a wood worm experience today, turning a travel mug, I was sure the hole was empty as I could see the light right through it. The little blighter was hiding in his ensuite and when I opened up that cavity, out he came, at 2,000RPM, off my face shield and into the wall.

    It must be a conspiracy...

For a second there I read that as budgies... and had a mental image of our cages. (We breed 'em.) Complete with floors littered with remnants of old perches.

Those li'l buggers can wreak havoc on your wood pile!
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Rifleman, I've got about 50mm of dust on my W/S floors, I think I had better emigrate to down under, to be far enough away from my infestation.
