I shall join in. After a big clean up my main workbench is fairly empty besides a couple of saws to restore.
However there is a number of tools waiting for attention on the other one and a garden table to be sanded and oiled.

There is no need to judge.

Just finished a walk in wardrobe project inside so everything was just piled up to enable handover to the boss. Hoping to get out during the week after work to create some space for the next project.

I think a lot of us can relate to this, after the job is done.

I refer to clean up as getting the soldiers back in line lol.

My two fixed position benches regrettably used to look just like Sir Stinkalot's. I found that this crimped my enthusiasm somewhat because it looked terrible and there was no place to work. As for trying to find something that was just painful. About 6 months ago I had a big clean up. I found or made storage solutions and the difference was like night and day. Then I made my mobile bench and have been very good at keeping it clear. Unless I will be working there the next day I put all the tools where they belong and even if I will be working there the next day I put away the tools that I am finished with. Amazing how much easier and pleasurable it is to work in a tidy (ish) environment.
So at the moment my mobile bench has my two current projects, the No. 5 refurbishment plus a pencil box type chisel storage box. Both of which are for one of my sons.

Lately I have been doing home reno projects so the workshop only needs to be able to cater for small tasks at a time.

I actually like the clean up process, I get it ready for the next project and then start the cycle again.

    Default Mine is a mess

Unfortunately at present mine is covered in power tools that were hastily thrown up there as about two inches of water came in through the workshop in last weeks storms, and after I’ve finished shoveling out the half a tonne of mud and crap that’s there now I might be able to save them, here’s hoping.

I have been cutting up some cedar that I got from DJ a while back. The shed smells great. Don't look at the bench to close. Lots of things happening there.IMG_1905.jpgIMG_1904.jpg

    Default A bomb site

I looked at this thread and thought I could probably post and at least make Sir Stinky's bench look really good, but then my bombshelled bench would be out of the bag and then I saw CKlett's bench complete with a naked saw and I thought I have to be in this.

There are wondrous projects in there somewhere, but none of them too large or physically attractive:

    P1050957 (Medium).JPGP1050958 (Medium).JPG

yeah. It can be a bit of a trip hazard, but I have dealt with that!

    P1050960 (Medium).JPG

probably the most exciting thing, for me that is: Some Victory saws to restore:

    P1050961 (Medium).JPG

So having been thoroughly shamed, this is after the clear up (No pictures of my other work bench, which is really only a table.) I have not seen this work bench for a couple of years. Now I have to find where I have put all the projects.

    P1050963 (Medium).JPGP1050964 (Medium).JPG

This is about as good as i can make the under bench storage short of taking everything to the tip.

I love that. Happens to me all the time. I tidy up and put everything away in the hope I will then find things better. And then find out later that I forgot where I have sorted that stuff into.

    Matt

If you had seen me digging a hole for some new rainwater water tanks (only to locate some buried pipes: Not for the whole tank ) you would have suggested the bomb that caused my workbench to be as it was needed to go under me!

Now on a slight digression, because that is what threads like this lead into, I must go back to Cklett's bench to ask about the saws.

I initially spotted the saw in the foreground, but on re-reading the post just now I spotted the saw behind which is much more interesting and could be a Disston No.12 panel saw. However it could be anything featured in this thread too as there is no other clue in the pic (medallion, etches etc.)

When it is not a No.12

    And it is........??

This Blackwood box has been on my bench making me nervous for a few weeks. I have been to scared to cut the lid off in this hot humid weather for fear it would twist and bow but today bit the bullet and got it done quick and its now in the house where the conditions are more stable.
It was commissioned by Ethan from Sydney to house a Bugle that he will present to his old cadet squad for their 100 year anniversary just before ANZAC day. He flew up to Brisbane for the day to meet with me and go over the details and to choose the timber, it measures 450L x 250D x 200H and i am happy with the way it turned out but not fussed on the hinges but they are what was chosen.

Paul, I actually do not really know. I had this bunch of saws and all in various bad conditions. Most handles broken and screws missing. Some blades had more holes than the handles so I believe they had been rehandled before. I am just trying to revive some of them. I am not an expert. Please don't judge
Anyway I attach some detailed fotos of that saw. No etching on it anymore. Was pretty rusted. In the pictures you can see the original handle which is pretty bad. But also these holes did not match the holes of the plate. So probably not the original one.

Also foto of the medallion, but who knows if that one belonged to the plate, the handle or again completely different.

I was thinking of using the big handle in the last foto, but maybe I should use the left?
Not sure. Happy for any suggestion.

PS: I am also thinking if I should reuse the medallions anyway. I don't want to mislead anyone later with a saw which pretends to be what it isn't
