That is a great project. I might keep an eye for some of those disks at Bunnings.

And that material would likely fit in the Cubism Competition if somebody had a mind to create and enter .
Nice aesthetic job.

Nice to see this thread back in use.
I might as well share my current project. I am making this for my Dad.
He served in the RAAF from 1950 - 1957 and never got a medal while he was serving. The medal in the picture was introduced in 2006 but eligibility was backdated to service since World War 2. I only recently discovered it had been backdated so far, and he would be entitled to it, so I applied for it on his behalf.
He is still alive, aged 92 in an aged care facility. He was so happy when he found out he was entitled to a medal, even if he completed the four-year qualifying period to earn it 69 years ago. I decided to make this display case for him so that he can keep it on display in his room.
It's obviously still a WIP so it will look a lot nicer when finished.
medalcase.jpgI got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

I’ve never contributed to this thread but thought I’d show what’s currently on my bench
Moving out of a rental soon to be in a bigger workshop again very excited to have active projects back on this with tools hanging on the wall around.
I build this bench whilst in a rental so had no idea how heavy it actually was until I got it up onto this trailer. I now have…a pretty good idea how heavy it is
Cheers
Nathan

Just finished this little project for my MIL, a cutlery tray, with a little help from my 9 year old (who insisted on being included in this post!)
Used it as a chance to try mitred dovetails for the first time. Definitely need to be improved, but I'm happy for a first attempt. A basic version of Derek's mitre jig worked wonders!
Regards,
Adam
