    Further update on the table.

Top is largely finished after my first attempt at inlay. Finished with my attempt at French polishing. Happy with the shine but it obvious my technique needs a lot of work.

Currently working on the drawer box and in a mad dash to have it in a half presentable form to give to the mrs as a (almost finished) Christmas pressie. Gluing up today, then polishing tomorrow before attaching it all together

Starting to finally see the end of this one

On one of my benches now are three shooting boards. Or is it 'chuting'?
    Made from scraps.
They cover the three main angles I need.
(That photo was the right way up on my desktop.)

Thanks for turning that photo around the right way. I didn’t know it was possible after posting.
On my other bench are my planes. Thought I would pull them all apart and service them and give the blades a proper sharpen. It’s a nice thing to do - closest I’ll ever get to meditating. I might make it an annual ritual.

    Default What’s on the Bench.

Well considering I started this thread(think i may have even said something similar before[emoji57]).

My Melbourne bench is looking very busy, an i feel guilty, for one having more than 1 project on the go.
But I feel I’m not alone when it comes too that situation.

So we have the Squirrel tail block plane build sitting begging for some attention, its looking like a plane now tho so that’s inspiring, still more work to go,but really looking forward too seeing the first shaving being ejected through the mouth.

A Holden pattern saw(Or Wheeler Madden)panel saw, waiting for some saw plate to be ordered an arrive.
Really happy with how the handle is looking, it will possibly get some Shellac applied to it,not sure what i will do for hardwares at this stage.

An a Back saw with the handle 90 percent done,an another welded back to go with that one.
This one has already had a few coats of Shellac applied.
both handles are in Silky Oak.

So there we go my Bench at present.

    Cheers Matt.

You are not alone in suffering from multi-projectitis. When I tidied up two weeks ago I had all my current projects on the bench and counted about 14.

In the meantime I have finished these two

    A set of majong racks

And a some carving knives and tiny carving chisels

But I also collected 3 more things I want to make....

Now on my bench is this variation of WoodbyWright file and rasp storage

How is it humanly possible too have 14 projects on the go at once, Sally knows not to talk to me while I’m tying my shoe laces, I can’t focus on more than one thing at a time [emoji6].

    Cheers Matt

Me too. But I suffer also a bit from busy brain. While I am working on a project I already get idea for another. And often the new one is a tad more exciting, so I get started on that. The other goes then on the backburner. And so on.....

Then I realise I need to finish something I worked on before. So I switch back to that.

I admit it is not an efficient way of working, but I enjoy it and it's my hobby. Not my livelihood [emoji6]

    Paul,

If I was twenty or even younger, my response would be “WHAT”, thankfully I’m slightly older now by a factor of another 30 years give or take a bit.

So I’m not as easily distracted as 20 year old children.

Saying that there is lovely Muffin an coffee to be consumed.

    Cheers Matt.

You guys are too kind. Thanks.
But hopefully nobody gives up, but rather be inspired that an amateur like me can produce some decent stuff.
