    Default Bird nesting box

I am thinking of building and putting a bird nesting box in a tree at home to attract parrots/rosellas. Any body got any plans or advice on what size box, hole dia etc they wish to share?

Hi olfella, I used to build my boxes for breeding parrots about 450 x 250 x 250 or out to 450 x 300 x 300. bigger parrots such as kingies will need taller boxes with a few steps secured up the inside of the box so as birds can climb into the box and not jump onto the young. I was told this by a mate of mine who bred them for a few years. For smaller birds you can go 300x200x200 gives them a nice snug box for them
    Dave,
hug the tree before you start the chainsaw.
