Slowly and steadily making a bit more progress. Rebated the rear and side panels to house the base and shelf. Biscuited the sides into the legs and tidied up the door frame and raised panel, including a nice chamfer on the panel and the inside of the frame.

Also made a couple of buttons to hold the top down and cut the slots for the buttons in the rear top rail.

A bit more progress, I've glued up the back section and applied some shellac to the top and door panel. This is the first project I've used shellac and I'm really enjoying using it. For the top and panel shown I have padded several coats of shellac and on the back panel I just padded two coats. I will give the shellac a very light sand and finish with Ubeaut traditional wax. I've also cut the mortises in the front legs for the butt hinges and hopefully today I'll get the whole thing glued up.

    Thanks for the positive feedback.

I cut the hinge mortises in the leg, put a bit of shellac on some of the internal faces and glued up the carcase. I use yellow glue which seems to be effective enough but it's very stressful with such a short open time. I have been taking this project very slowly and carefully, trying to do a good job and then at glue up time I'm rushing without the luxury of being able to stand back and think about the next step. That said it turned out OK, it's just not my favorite part of the process.

I've also glued up the door and cut the hinges in. While messing about with the door the panel has moved/come loose despite my best efforts to glue the top and bottom in the centre. Maybe the shellac stopped the glue taking? Anyway, I have to find a solution to stop the panel moving around in the frame. Any ideas?
