If there were a few in there it would probably sound like popcorn. Doubt the smell would be quite as nice though
Friend of mine had a stack of bamboo steps that were left a bit too long and ended up infested with borer beetles, became completely unusable. Annoying little things they are

    There is more.

This tree fell down about a year ago.

I never really got around in getting a few pieces until the other day. By this time my friend had cleared the area of the scrubs and chopped the tree up in manageable pieces.

What I found was this in the middle of many of the pieces so I took a couple to take a look inside. Is this the remains of a termite nest?

I also had a smaller branch in this pile and I started to peel the bark away. I found what I would describe as like brown ants. Sorry did not take a photo of the deceased ants.

Any ideas of what these could be?
