Boring Topic
We all have come across the situation lovely bit of wood only to find those little nasty holes and signs of Borer here's and interesting look.

Wood borers infest timber and furniture
I have heard a few moments in the microwave does wonders but not seen or tried that YET.

If there were a few in there it would probably sound like popcorn. Doubt the smell would be quite as nice though
Friend of mine had a stack of bamboo steps that were left a bit too long and ended up infested with borer beetles, became completely unusable. Annoying little things they are

I never really got around in getting a few pieces until the other day. By this time my friend had cleared the area of the scrubs and chopped the tree up in manageable pieces.
What I found was this in the middle of many of the pieces so I took a couple to take a look inside. Is this the remains of a termite nest?

I also had a smaller branch in this pile and I started to peel the bark away. I found what I would describe as like brown ants. Sorry did not take a photo of the deceased ants.
Any ideas of what these could be?
