    Default Braced and ledged door

I'd like to make a door with a notched brace as per the attached image. What is the correct procedure for getting a nice tight fit on the brace. From what I've seen you make your frame, attach your ledges, then place the brace over the top of your ledges mark where the notch is going to go and then chisel (?) out the notch. Is that the best way to go or have I overlooked something. Obviously the notch has to be cut very accurately otherwise the brace will not work well.

The birdsmouth is cut into the ledger before it is fixed. Angles and length are marked on the brace and the brace cut to fit. A sliding bevel is a handy tool here.

Thanks Rusty, that sounds easier than chiselling the notch out.
