Thread: Brad point bits - where?

This has been covered recently on here, if you scroll down below this post there should be about 4 references to posts on the subject.

I have US made Fuller which in my opinion are the best.
I also have a set from before the collapse of the Soviet empire which are equally as good but not as pretty.

A mate who was a sheety ground me up a set which is easy to do but you need a very narrow wheel to grind the wings.

All down to how much you want to pay.

Fisch have a couple of great HSS brad point bit sets. https://www.timbecon.com.au/fisch-st...s-25-piece-set Have the set, no regrets. I've also got Carbitool carbide tipped brad points - they're good but should only be used in a drill press.

The Bosch ones with black flutes aren't terrible but dull quickly. Frost, Aldi, and the generic Chinese bits that are sold with German on the packaging are garbage.

Not brad points but have you considered pilot point drill bits? I have an old set of US made Black and Decker bits and they are great, though not metric. You can get the DW version here for example

Otherwise search pilot drill bits.

I have an imperial set of W. L. Fuller brad points which I'm happy with, but for metric brad points I use this set from Famag which is excellent. Pricey though.

I have the old Colt [made in France/made in Germany] plus W.L.Fuller [made in USA]; all excellent!
Both pricey but I've now approaching 10yrs of use!
