Default What to do Sunshine Coast QLD

I am sure that this is the wrong forum, but could not find find a suitable alternate section to put this into. So Mods please remove if applicable.

I find myself on the Sunshine Coast QLD for a little while, and would like to look/buy some tools/timber to take in my luggage back to Melbourne. Not especially interested in travelling to Gregory's/Carbatec in Brisbane, but other areas north of Brisbane are OK.

So the question is, where can I go for a look-see? Any suggestions?

    Thanks all.

    George

The Tool Exchange is around the Sunshine Coast, but I don't think he takes visitors without an appointment. Can't think of much else tool wise - but I'm not a Sunshine Coast resident so take others will know better. For timber there is Trevor Gaskel of TG Creations (0403496403). He is on the north side of Brisbane about an hour from the Sunshine Coast. I think there are some sawmills up north as well but I'm not anymore use than that - sorry.

David Linton in Maleny sells timber as well as timber furniture and artwork. Worth the trip just to look!

So was i, a cracker of a weekend up there.

Although i spent the night out at Conondale Camping in the VW Transporter, a brisk 0.5 Degrees

The Linton gallery is worth a visit, although i was only in Maleny for Coffee.

Don't really spend any time up the coast looking at tools or timber, so I'm not really any help, but enjoy the sun while you are here

Believe it or not, it is MUCH colder here than we would have thought. Both SWMBO and myself are very cold....(should have bought the winter woolies with us)

True - but central heating takes the edge off the chill.

How about sending a message to Mapleman? You'd never know what he's got kicking around. I think he's in Woodford these days.

    Cheers,
    David

I had thought about contacting Chris, but I knew that he had moved (and had hassles), so thought that it may have been an inconvenience for him at the moment.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

Several places for timber between North Brisbane and Gympie but not sure that would help if you are flying back home.
