Default Brisbane & Cairns woodworking attractions ?

    G'day All,

I'll be visiting Brisbane and Port Douglas (near Cairns) over the next few weeks, and was wondering if anyone can suggest any woodworking related attractions to visit.

A couple of items already on the list are Gregory Machinery at their new premises, and the Hermitage family who sell nice native hardwood furniture from a shop in Eumundi (great market there too). Other than that, I'm open to any suggestions.

    Thanks in advance,

    Justin.

    G'day Justin,
Maleny is a place filled with woodworkers and craft. On the road to the Sunshine coast you take the Landsborough turnoff, and follow the road signs. Perhaps the RACV could give you a map. That will be better than my directions.

    Thanks Dod,

I've got a Refidex handy, so I won't have any probs with directions. Any particular galleries, shops etc that you can recommend ?

    Cheers,

    Justin

    Sweet!
Bloody weather here in Brissy over weekend... no chance to woodwork! Next project: Panel-style toy box for the little fella.

I've sent SWMBO out house hunting today...

Requirements: Must have 2-3 bay shed or 2-bay garage that she is willing to give at least half up!

    Dean,

Forget giving up half - tell her she can do what she likes with the house so long as she stays out of the shed/garage. Oh, you forgot to specify 3 phase power

    Wink

    Justin,
While your up that way you could drop in on the Ainsworth family and a spin of their fruit machines.
I believe Aristocrap have been having a problem of white anting in the family tree.

Have a great time, might get to Port Duggless myself if I win a competion or Lotto or something. ha

    Hi Justin,
Check out Montville, just up the road from Maleny, plenty of wood there too, although it has been a few years since I was there last. Just up the road from Port Douglas is Daintree, www.daintreetimbergallery.com/aboutus.htm and up on the tablelands is Tolga, www.tolgawoodworks.com.au .
I will be up there in June for a few days, will be checking them out myself.
    Cheers
