Unfortunately I down the wrong end of the country but for anybody closer, the 40mm Kitchen stuff, especially if it's still got the laminate top on is great for a router table and to set a router plate into. It's stable, flat and slippery and you never know, it may complement nicely with the rest of your work-shoppe decor.

Our local Regency bathroom and wardrobe design place puts some of their better cast-offs on the nature strip. You won't get rid of all of it, but the people who do take it will be very grateful. Our local tip shreds all the timber product that is deposited in the correct area. I suspect that it is probably added to the garden mulch from there.

Remove the laminate, ship then through an industrial shedder and make them into briquettes....

These RUF briquettes are popular here... they cannot keep up and are constantly out of stock.

The dudes at Thors Hammer, a timber recycler, made their own machine.

Kitchen places sell their cover sheets for $5-$10 each. People queue for them. Given yours are smaller than 8x4 you might not get as much interest but an ad on gumtree will soon tell you.

I've got a stack to make a laminating table (fiberglass boat building) and molds for the hulls. Yours are a bit small for that but people find other uses...

I suggest asking $1 each rather than free. The psychology is fascinating. If you ask them to pay, even a marginal amount, people value things much more.

I'm in Brisbane and I am very interested. Are these laminated and edge banded? Would it be possible to send me a photo or two to make sure I properly understand what these are?
Are you talking a 1800mm x 800mm laminated office desk top and similar?
I have a ute and tandem 8 x 5 trailer so I can collect them. I'm happy to come with steel capped boots and whatever other PPE requirement you might have.

What I will have to figure out is where to store them for a few months because my new shed will not be built until the new year.

I am thinking I could have a whole lot of benches with these as tops. That would be awesome!
If you have so many that I could line my shed with these for free, then I can certainly take copious amounts because the new shed is going to be large.

This, ive heard of a person who chucked a desk out on the nature strip with free on it. Nobody wanted it. Put a $10 sign on it and someone knocked it off later that day

Good on you for trying to do the right thing i.e. not send that stuff to landfill.

I'm on the Board of a place in Marrickville, Sydney, called Reverse Garbage. It was set up in the 70s to promote the reuse (as opposed to recycling) of commercial and industrial off cuts. Lots of businesses send stuff to Reverse Garbage to be sold and the resulting income is used to run classes for kids in reuse - over 16,000 kids last year.

I'm sure there is a similar organisation in Brisbane and if they are like the one in Sydney, they would take those desk tops and benches.

Depending on where your business is, they might pick up. We do that in Sydney.

Whenever I need something odd, I go to Reverse Garbage - the Sydney one. Also picked up some nice birch ply there earlier this year. Not what I went there for, but that's often the way.

We have something up here called the Worlds Greatest Garage Sale, we give them as much as they can take but there's only so much they can move before we overwhelm them. They are our channel for office chairs, they can always move those on for us which is great.

I had a look at the site you linked, I'll get in touch with them next week, if they want anything I will 100% have our guys drop stuff off to them. A lot of places only want hardwood but there's got to be a few avenues out there.

If I can find a few I will set up a mailing list, send out a list of what I will have and when I will have it, who ever puts their hand up will have it dropped off at their location.
