Default Brisbane's Timber and Working with Wood Show

Once again I had to work at the wood Show(3rd year in a row), so I didn't get to look around until the final day. Once again however, I was more happy to be there as I hed to wait all year since the last Wood Show for this one. I spent around $400, less than the last few years but this time I got to meet a couple of fellow Forum Members which was a bonus. I hope everyone that went had as good a time as I did.

Purchases:
Router Lathe
Hide Glue
3D Drawing Board and
Router Bit

Cheers and happy Wood Shows to the others coming up in the following months in the Southern States...

I thought it was a great show. I am surprised they don't open at least Fri evenings for the workers.

Default Big Spend Up

I was a (paid) volunteer to do a bit of demonstration work for Northwood Tools ¾ hrs on – same off – so had lots of time to wander around and speak to the other exhibitors. General feed back I got was it was a very quite show. Friday was thin; Saturday looked busy but still thin trade wise for a lot of stalls and today was very quite. Obviously the big boys looked pretty busy most of the time but I got similar comments from them. <O></O>

I had been saving my cents for a nice long shopping list so got: -

• Sanding drum kit for bench drill
• Porter Cable biscuit jointer
• Sherwood – 4” Belt & 8” Disc sander with dusty (end of show – take off shelf price)
• Ryobi model BID-1211 Cordless Impact Driver
• 2 hp Hare & Forbes D3 dustie (used at show etc) for very nice price- thanks to Colin at Northwood.
• Some of Neil’s EEE Ultra shine
• Years subs to Australian Woodsmith
• Other bits
That it – nothing for the rest of the year – honest.
<O></O>
Now will have to re-plan my roll out cabinet I was about to build to store the belt/disc sander. And, work out where, how I’m doing to store/plumb up the dustie.
<O></O>
I’ve just been thinking about hanging the belt/disc sander “bat-like” under my worktop and being able to pull it out and flip it straight onto to the work surface. A bit adventurous – but has anyone done or seen this. If so would love to see pics/solutions/drawing.
Fantastic cheese Grommit!!
