    Talking Buckets with lids?

I'm chasing after a number of plastic buckets with lids - something around the 25L mark with handles so I can store assorted plasters / cements / dry things in a uniform stackable manner.

It seems most places like Bunnings ask stupidly large amounts of money for these things new. I'm quite happy with s/h ones. Digging around the local papers hasn't bought me much luck so far either. Manufacturers are only selling in the 500+ unit quantities.

Any thoughts where I might try?

    Cheers, Antony.

Ask at your local bakery, Brumby's or Bakers Delight, a lot of their ingredients come in 20-25l buckets.

A while ago now, but swmbo had nappy soaking buckets with lids and sturdy handles. Also handy for fishing and electrolysis dip but don't get caught.

Butchers also have 20L buckets, they get their marinades delivered in them and as it is a food item, they cannot be reused for food, so if you're friendly with your local, see if he'll put some aside for you.

Also try your fast food outlets. They get pickles and stuff in those 20litre white buckets.

I can definitely vouch for the versatility of nappy buckets and their toughness. Mine was run over by the digger when the plumber was excavating trenches. A quick punch out and it is as good as new!!

Anyone with a back yard swimming pool will have used chlorine powder buckets of about 25 litre capacity.
The lids are strong and snap shut.

I used to have a salt water aquarium - so lots of need to store sea water. I got 20 litre buckets with lids from the donut shops - the ones in the shopping malls. I didnt pay much for them. I think they originally had soft serve ice cream.

I have also got second hand buckets from ther bakery. But for my dry pottery glaze ingredients I ended up lashing out and getting those nice rectangular containers from Bunnings with the hinged lids. Just really wanted a neat solution that stacks easily and is easy to scoop out of. I think they were only $12 each.

If they're around your way, give horse and small stable owners the puppy dog eyes for their old molasses buckets.

You're on the other side from me, but I found a wholesale distributor of plastics in Brisbane who supplies all the retailers, but is also happy to sell single units to walk in customers: http://www.peopleinplastic.com.au/ Maybe there's someone like that in Perth?

Painters have plenty of 20ltr buckets with lids and are usually only too happy to give them away. Big problem for painters getting rid of their paint buckets. Try one of your local painters.
