I've been informed that I'm not allowed to build my own coffin....
....Apparently I have waaay too many other woodwork projects to do before that...
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

I am well aware of the rudimentry nature of the Irish, but I would have thought, after a spell in your new found home, even you would have come to realize there is much more to a funeral than just digging a hole. And, if you don't mind me asking, who the hell's going to fill it in?

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

I think ur on the right track, though you could probably just be cremated in a wheelie bin. Shredded plastic from drums does get used as feedstock for industrial furnaces so no problem there. Other bonuses no leakage so there is a tick right there. Easy to maneuver for the pall bearers another tick. Flies might be a problem though if you are not collected for a couple of days.

[QUOTE=Woodwould;1415266]"Rudimentary Irish"! From someone who is more sheep than human!
One thing I am not is sheepish!
I went to NZ in '69 to play football and they hardly showed any interest at all

I got mine

My daughter a few years back while doing year 12 made it for us a bit short but by beheading me and chopping of my legs someone could put me in. She was told she could not make a coffin but a coffin-table was OK . It currently is stored in the middle of our lounge room

A more environmentally friendly burial might be to place the corpse in a bio-degradable, recycled paper sack and stuff it into a hole bored with a tractor-mounted auger, which method, itself, would save on diminishing funereal-approved land.regards,

I recently buried my brother and was also shocked at the prices of coffins. You may want to check out your local ordinances to make sure you are in compliance.

After reading the above ......
These are only my thoughts ...... But may be there are forum members that would find all these posts a bit hard going for obvious reasons and would not even reply to it but move away from it quickly, and it may be even possible they may not come back to the forum at all at a time when we could support them.
I have also added to the input of these posts in hindsight I now regret it a little and will try to remove me little bit. No offense to all you good people.
