Default Built my son a bed

Well it took a few more weekends then expected but my great bed saga comes to a close as its now complete.

I look forward to many bumped heads and at least one night time tumble. But my son William seems pretty dam stoked with his new big boy bed.

Mainly pocket holes and shiplap painted white. The structural pine is coated with aquapro 2k floor coating. Have a heap left over from when our floors got done and its water based and low voc.

Wife made the macrame for the windows, and it has a removable door covering to help him stop rolling out. We also added the little balustrade bit to his sky light just to make sure he cant climb out.

The reason its so high is just so an adult can sit under it fairly comfortably, also helps maximise the space of the room as its not a small area, but not huge either.

Yeah, might not be too long before it gets retired to outside and haveabeer69 is instructed as to the design requirements for round two. There's no doubt that one family member is mightily impressed though.

my daughters had bunk beds when around that age. I got rid of them when No.1 on top bed yells out
'daddy I'am going to be sick'
half asleep from a wonderful romp with the wife, I race into their room yelling
'get down go to the toilet." etc

I grab her from the top and she has pleasure in sharing her guts literally over me.

I shudder everytime I see bunks.

that aside you have both done a fantastic job, i am sure one the will remember for years to come.
I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

yeah the side up against the wall isnt filled in but you do have to drag it out of the way to get to the mattress. Hind sight probably should have had the front hinged or removable just for ease of access.

Can always change it or build another if it doesnt work. That or the dings in his fore head from bopping it on the roof might means he gets moved out sooner

He’s going to use that bed for as long as he can and remember it forever. Lucky boy.
