Bunnies selling galvanised nuts
Is it just my Bunnies or do they all carry an odd assortment of nuts?
I purchased a few pre packaged galvanised eye bolts to install a shade sail. I found that I needed a few additional galvanised nuts.
On return to bunnies I found that they only stock galvanised nuts in metric and only stock imperial nuts in zinc coating, and of course the pre packaged galvanised eye bolts were imperial thread.
To make it worse I was charged for galvanised nuts instead of the cheaper zinc.
Some consistancy would be nice. :mad:Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Getting rid of the imperial stuff would be nice too.

Stinky, same at most Bunnings AFAIK, loose bolts and nuts are zinc in imperial & gal in metric.

Ahhh at least it is not me losing my mind.
It just seems stupid that they sell all of the packaged eye bolts etc in galvanised imperial but dont back this up with loose stock.
But at the end of the day what do Bunnies care? Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Or you could do what I caught one fool doing , didn't bother with the galvo nuts just ran a die nut down the thread (taking off all the gal) and used ordinaty nuts, this for a job on the deck of a ship.

It gets worse.
I baught some eye screws for a job marked as 5/16 only to find that they were in fact 8mm metric. fortunately I hadn't tapped the holes yetAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.

Another whinging Bunnings post
Another whinging Bunnings post which really only shows the posters own ignorance.
So now Bunnings is blamed for not stocking a small and unusual item that probably has a very limited demand.
Surely everyone knows by now that Bunnings is a large supermarket chain selling hardware instead of a hardware store, or tool specialist or a nut and bolt store or a paint store. They sell a large range of items, some cheap, some not so cheap and some very dear but usually only those with a high turnover and have it displayed so that if you know what you want, but don't know its name, you can fossick to see if you can find it. The perfect heaven for DIY's and their family.
When we go to a local supermarket we can see the large range of goods but if you want a special type of cake you go to a cake shop or a special bottle of wine you go to a liquor store or a special cigar you go to a tobacconist, and so you go on.
I don't see any complaining posts about supermarkets not stocking your favourite cereal but Bunnings, doing the same thing, is always the bunny around here. Stinky, if you want special nuts go to a bolt and nut specialist that have everything you want, and more, and normally at a cheaper price than Bunnings.
BTW I don't work for Bunnings, never have, but have always got good service and helpful advice from my Bunnings stores, but I realize their limitations.
Peter.

What about Mom and Pop?
Here we have Home Depot and Lowes which seem to be rather similar to your Bunnings. Both have exceptionally poor selections of hardware. (Nuts, bolts etc.) I'm luck because there is a Mom and Pop hardware (Ace) store closer than either HD or L. Amazingly, this M&P stocks a larger variety of hardware than either of the Borg stores. The only exception is drywall screws where the Borgs have many more sizes in stock.
That little M&P hardware store that you pass on your way to the Borg may just surprise you. Stop in and give them a chance.

A galvanised nut is hardly a specialist item.

I fully understand the position in the market that Bunnings holds and I love the idea of being able to rush down there at 3.30pm on a Sunday to get the last bits and peices I need to complete a project before returning to work on Monday. For that convenience I m quite happy to accept not great service and inflated prices. This is why I spend so much money there. I also fully understand that if I want my complete choice of nuts then I would go to a specalist bolt reseller. The problem with this is most are only open weekdays and doesn't really help on a Sunday afternoon.
The gripe is that the galvanised eye bolts that they sell are in imperial only .... not my choise as I would prefer metric. If you need additional nuts to go with their imperial eye bolts then you only have the choise of zinc which isn't the best match for your galvanised bolts.
But then again you could be right ..... I must be the only stupid person who would like to purchase galvanised nuts to go along with the galvanised bolts. All those other people that I see on a weekend looking for loose nuts and bolts must be able to purchase their galvanised nuts in advance from their specialist bolt bloke.
With that logic I think I will open a department store selling VHS VCRs but only stocking Beta tapes ..... just to make it hard for everybody involved. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.
