What to make with this burl slab?
I have this burl slab
and i dont know what to make with it.
I was going to make a coffee table but i cant think of a good design for the base.
Has anyone else built any burl top coffee tables? I dont really like the burl bases on some tables. Any other ideas of what to build with it?

Looks bloody useless, send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you.
Is there anything easier done than said?- Stacky. The bottom pub, Cobram.

You could use mallee root, a contrasting light coloured wood, use your imagination. Although I have to agree with Dan, I could get rid of it for you too!

Looks like there's nice tight grain on that one, perhaps you should consider slicing it up on the bandsaw (if you've got one) for veneer. Then you could use the veneer for stuff like small boxes, picture frames etc.
Cheers,
Justin.

MMMM Leighd, it looks as if it is thick enough for me to turn a platter, so I can always pick it up when I go to the turning club in Kenwick! Nice burl mate.

i have 2 other slabs someone gave me about 700 round i might make a couple of platters from. I was thinking about cutting some veneers from it for some buffet doors but i dont have a bandsaw.
How much do u think it would cost if i took it somewhere to get it cut up? it is about 300-400 wide and 1200 long

What about a wall hanging, if you slice it you could make a matching pair of wall hangings for either side of a fireplace.
(I dont know where that came from, it just popped into my head.)____________________________

you get a warm feeling for a while but nobody notices.

Mine is alot longer aswell so i dont think a mallee root would be very stable.
