HI all, I recently purchased two burls, coolabah and red gum,,.....each sliced into approx 15mm slices. Grain is amazing especially in the Coolabah burls. I have them all stacked on top of each other at present. I cut a nice piece out of the first burl I wanted to play with, Coolabah and finished it down to about 12mm thick. A piece around 300mm x 220mm. Left it overnight, warped like anything. I used the old trick of wetting the inside of the warp and turning it upside down and put it into the heat of the sun, and presto, warp comes out.

I've seen people use burls on lids of boxes with no frames, just the burl. How do they prevent it from warping all over the place and staying nice and flat.

Any clues,..

Paul
