does any one know where I can buy brass male and female thumbscrews?
I am planning on building a centre wheel plough plane similar to the one in the attached picture; does any one know where I can buy brass male and female thumbscrews?

Seriously, Mother of Pearl used to have a similar screw in their catalogue - not sure if they still do, but I'm sure I have one somewhere. It has a coarse thread. Will try to dig it out & post a pic tomorrow. If you need it arrangements can be made.

Check out Lee Valley - they have female threaded brass knobs (1/4-20) and cast iron thumbscrews. There are also some bits that may be useable hiding as brass knobs for other projects - there are some that can have wood inlays added. Or you can make your own male thumbscrews by silver soldering or brazing brass rod into a female threaded knob.

Thanks AlexS for the generous offer think I will make the brass ware. Watch this space for some pictures of the plane I still have to draw up plans for the plane the project has a time frame of 12 months. The current project is a Chess board from Huon Pine and Tas Myrtle.

And here I was thinking it was a big metal tambour door for a garage
