Default Buying cabinet timber in Sydney

The only two places I know of which sell cabinetmaking timbers in Sydney are Trend Timbers and Anagote. By cabinet timbers I'm not meaning the really exotic stuff but the middle of the road species like rock maple, black walnut, Fijian mahogany and Queensland maple. This doesnt sound right - in a city of 4 million people only two sellers - and one of them not really in Sydney anyway. Am I missing someone ? Anyone know of any other dealers in or near Sydney ?

    cheers

Mathews timber, Christie St. St. Marys is good. You can select your timber from their racks.

Yup - Matthews is good, also Yates at Ingleburn.

Yates keep a surprising range of species, and at very good prices. Their solid timber warehouse is a couple of streets away from the board products and head office, so you can pick up some nice birch ply on the same trip !

These days I would tend to use Anagote and Trend for nice facing timber if you are looking for particular figure or colour, but Matthews/Yates for cheaper 'bulk' timber to make the remainder of a piece.

Default thanks - just what I needed

I just looked at the Matthews Timber website. Looks great, just what I was looking for. An alternative to Anagote/Trend and not so far to travel.

    cheers

I did not know about Yates. Will have to check them out!
I have found Matthews to be quite helpfull and let you rummage the racks for the right bit. Keep them sweet by tidying up the rack when you finish and you will be welcome next time.
