G'day All,

Another hobby of mine is composite molding and to keep my collection of composite materials free of wood dust I'm planning on making a fibreglass roll cabinet as per the attached drawing.

I've got some recycled 12mm ply that will be used for the cabinet and I'm hoping to sort out the edges with some hardwood strip say 5mm thick on the visible ply edges. Lord Nibbo's latest tool cabinet build was very inspiring.

The door of the cabinet will hinge down to form the cutting table and my question relates to the method of latching the door closed. As drawn I'm hoping that an overhang on the top of the table legs will be sufficient to swing up behind a cleat at the top of the cabinet face when the door is being closed and secure it in position. To open the cabinet the legs are pulled outwards swinging below the cleat and releasing the table to be lowered down again.

Does anyone know of any problems I might encounter using this design and also is there any easy way of working out the required dimensions for the overhang and cleat or should I mock it up with some scrap to test the operation first?

Thanks for your help.
Steve.
