Caltex wood sealer?
A guy I met has a 20L drum of something he labelled 'shellac', but the Caltex tin its in just says its wood sealer. It is not shellac as I know it by any stretch. Its a creamy coloured paste that has a faint smell like perhaps parrafin wax. Its some kind of petroleum based stuff I assume. He got it from an old guy, a wood turner. I rubbed it on a a hammer handle and it took well but I don't think it would harden much Does anyone know the product? Is it used for finishing or just for preserving stored timber? Thanks in advance.

I just remembered the goole option, and it looks like its made for doing end grain on cut logs and slabs. I can't find any info though on what its made of.

Might be similar to Mobilcer?

It sounds like it is timber sealer.
It is the product I use to seal the ends of timber and logs since the demise of Mobilcer-M.Kev
