Here is a little secret. Don't use camphor if you want to make someone sick, use treated pine instead. I didn't tell you that OK!

$55 she said Jake, the bloke explained how he hadn't just cut a little hole at one end, but had put another strip of wood in to bridge the top of to make it stronger, and used special oil (grape seed I think) and look at the lovely rings.

I was impressed in a way, it was a log that he'd dried and sawn and all the growth rings appeared nicely, taken a chunk out of one end and put a piece of hardwood across and then oiled. It's all in the selling, she thinks this is a bargain, of course its to special to use and gone into a cupboard somewhere, ah well can't complain there are plenty of things I've bought that are sitting in the cupboard almost unused to.

Saw truckloads of Camphor cutting boards for sale at Eumundi markets and couldn't believe the prices they put on them Just plain old offcuts with a hole for a handle $30 - $60 . Up at Maleny in a gallery they had beautifully made, laminated hardwood cutting boards for around $55 - no contest really!
My old man would never use Camphor for cutting boards, not because he thought anyone would get sick but because it tainted the food if it was left on them for long. Like eating moth balls he reckoned! That was good enough reason for me to leave it alone too

OK I'll bite, what sort of mix/blend/ratio are we talking about.

Now I'm a Brown Brothers person, and would hate to waste any of the good stuff.

    Hi

There are republished results or extract which were carried out by Alan Waterson all over the place on the Internet. I am thinking of switching my plastic cutting board to camphor, anyone knows if the test report was real or how to confirm it? Thanks!

If it's real, where to find the full test report? Or even get in touch with The author....

By the way, isn't it illegal due to copyright to use the info as part of business advertisement ?! I have seen like every camphor cutting boards businesses use the unconfirmed test report on their business websites....

    Thanks heaps!

I cant find the original paper either. From some googling, the author seems to live jn Mullumbimby. Try calling SCU in Lismore and asking for him?

At the Maleny Wood show year before last they sold camphor laurel cheese boards, cutting boards etc by the 1000's. It is a pest tree down there, and they are glad to get rid of it.
As with all timbers, use good personal protection when cutting and machining ( dust masks, eye protection and hearing protection) , and use a very good dust extraction system at all times - this minimises any risk of adverse reaction
    regards,

    Dengy
