camphor laurel bed???
hi all;
i recently saw the works of a man at some markets who makes a
variety of furniture, candlabras etc from camphor
laurel. i have seen a photo of a bed he made from
c/l and am very interested in getting him to make
one. i have searched around to find out a few things
- eg; is it strong enough for a bed; is it long
lasting??? if any one can give me any info on this it
would be great.
thanks in advance

Kim, I will try to answer each question in order.
All timber is long lasting if looked after and is in an indoor environment so I don't think this is a problem.
Camphor Laurel is a lot harder than pine and they have been using pine for beds for a long time.
The only problem that I could think of is the aroma but that disappears or reduces over time. HTH

My parent built some camphor Laurel lounge chairs over 10 years ago and they are still going strong after being used (and abused) by 4 strapping lads (now men) for the whole time, so I can vouch for the strength of furniture made of camphor laurel!
