Put a thread in the timber/small timber milling/market forums and see what you can find there.

If you check around the timber merchants, you should be able to source 300x19 Pine (radiata). we can buy it up here in Caboolture.

There must be suppliers in Adelaide.

Lindsay MEYERs in Clontarf , would be able to do HOOP PINE this size if requested..

    Default 290 x 19 Pine is a standard width

Here's some useful info,- Radiata pine is available right in in, " Good ol' South OZ," in various widths up to 290mm wide x 19mm thick from ANY decent Timber, and Hardware store here in South OZ. Alternatively you can contact the well-known Timber Specialist Company of, Otto & Co located in Ann Street, Stepney, S.A. ( Yes,- they are on the net ), and ask for, Ken Otto, who recently quoted me on Qld Kauri Pine in 300mm. width x 25mm. thick x whatever lenght one is seeking. Otto & Co have a wide range of timbers available for both the handyman, the specialist builder, and for the master craftsman, as I have used their services numerous times over the years, and since they look after me, I always go back to Otto's when I can't find anything suitable from our local Timber & Hardware shop.
Hope this bit of info is of some good use.

    G'day Rob,

As stated, 290 x 19 pine is easier to get than a speeding fine, but for future reference, A long grain to long grain glue joint, if prepared properly, is just about as good as it gets. You can use biscuits, but they are really more for alignment than strength.

As Roger said, Otto's have the lot, & it's good quality too, but from my experiance, you may find what you are looking for at a bit cheaper price elswhere.

Handypine at Welland is pretty good, And Australian timber at Gillman is a place I go for pieces other than pine. Phillcox, also at Gillman is a great place to go for a pack of pine.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more local tips.

    Steve
