Canvas stretcher bars
Hi All,
Can anyone please tell me if there is a jig out there to make joints like this? I want to make my own Stretcher bars as the ones out selling out there are ridiculously expensive.
see below link for what the bars look like.

any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Eric

They look to me like 4 strips of appropriately cut plywood and a bead laminated together. If that's the case they shouldn't be too tricky to knock up on a table saw. If not ply, then at least it is 4 strips of solid timber (looks like pine) if so you might need to thickness it first.
Actually - I've looked again, and I think it migth be solid timber. If so, then it would be possible, but harder. Looks like it is mostly likely to be done on a table saw. I don't know of any jigs.
PeterThe other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

The bars are actually manufactured from a single piece of solid pine rather than gluing strips of plywood, I have bought them before.
i've been scratching my head on how I;d be able to build a rig/jig to cut a profile like that...ummm..

There's a discussion on making this joint on a router over at Router Forums - Router and Woodworking Discussion Community.

It is called a Mitered Bridle Joint or, the one you are after is called a Double Bridle Miter Joint.
You can see the complete destructions in Woodsmith, Vol 31/No 181 Page 12.
You may have to order a back issue.
