Carba-Tec bouquet
As a sponsor of the forum I felt I should give praise where praise is due to Carba-Tec.
I bought a 15" thicknesser just under 2 years ago and had trouble free service. A few weeks ago the pulley for the cutter head broke and one belt fell off. When I looked closely the key had moved and damaged the shaft. I rang Carba-Tec Brisbane to get advice and was told the machine was still under warranty. The catch was I had to get a 250 kg machine to Brisbane but they would get it back. I then explained that my workshop was in the middle of a grassed paddock. A vehicle capable of lifting off the machine and placing it on the concrete floor would be difficult to find and expensive.
Carba-Tec then quickly came up with the solution. They would post the necessary parts and as I didn't feel confident to carry out the repairs I could engage a local mechanic to do the actual repairs. A win win as far as I was concerned. I found a local willing to do the job and paid him for his time. I then made a claim on Carba-Tec and they deposited the funds direct into my bank account.
By being flexible Carba-Tec saved me a 300 klm drive to Brisbane and the cost of hiring a trailer. On their part they saved transport to Murwillumbah approx $88.00 and the hire of a special truck to get it to my farm. I know that a tilt tray truck is $110.00 to the village. The local mechanic charged me less than $198.00 and every one was happy.
Anyway I just wanted to post a thanks to Carba-Tec for their service and the final solution. It was great all round.

I have always found Carbatec in Sydney very helpful with sound advice and great suggestions.
It's also good to hear of a city company who are sensitive to the unique problems which can occur when you live in a rural community. I had a clown run off the road and take out 100 metres of fencing on our property at Oberon. The driver's insurance company wanted three quotes before they would pay until I explained that the 50 steers in the paddock might cost them a heap more than the $100 I was claiming if they got out onto the road.
Good result.
