    Default Carba-Tec Price Hike

I have been keeping an eye out on carba-tec's website for quite sometime looking for the upcoming sale. Today the email came through with their new catalogue / sale.
Looking at Jet 310HH jointer / thicknesser combo package deal (Jet JPT310HH-PK) was $3700 now $4064, Jet 10" Xacta Tablsaw was $2800 now $3189.
Would like to know if anyone else has seen the same price increases across the board?

I have not been watching prices but they may tell you that the change is due to the exchange rate,it hasn't moved that much has it???

Yeah, I noticed that the Sorby Turnmaster carbide turning set has gone up from $139 to $153, a 10% increase.
It worked out cheaper to order one direct from the UK, even with the higher delivery cost.

Unfortunately for Aussie retail, that's becoming the general theme for everything.

Probably putting the prices up so they can say they have gone on sale and bring them back to the old (real) price as the sale price.

Well, the AUD has dropped about 12% in the last few months. All imported tools should be going up in price. The same drop has been experienced against the Euro so Festool will also be increasing their prices soon.
It is unfair to single out one supplier.
I have no affiliation with any supplier. I have been waiting for this to happen since the AUD started dropping.

I have had my share of issues with my local CT and decided 6 months ago that if I absolutely need something from CT it will be mail order from Brissy only in future, but up till then their prices had been stable or declining for around 12 months. Now our dollar is way down from its peak, and imprted goodies will cost more. Our exports should cost foreign customers less for the same return to our producers, making it easier to sell our goods like food, the last few cars, and resources, thus keeping our economy rolling along a bit longer.

Prices won't always drop as our dollar rises versus foreign currencies for a couple of simple reasons, existing stock in the warehouse won't get cheaper as it was paid for previously, and importers generally have utilised some form of locking in the currency value to protect against the dollar falling, be it buying in a reserve stock of foreign currency to use for paying for future stock, or some form of esoteric hedging process.

I ask that no-one have a go at the staff for the price as it not their fault
I work in retail and we get price updates & rises without notice and ome times it's even over night that the prices change
so again don't blame the staff behind the counters
    regards Michael

Yep noticed this as well. I have been looking at their 6" jointer for some time. Last year when they had their sale you could get it for $599 (when I should have bought it) now the sale price is $719. 20% increase

Maybe the 6' jointer was under priced at $599.
