    Default Carbatech TS-12R Help

Hello all, I have purchased the above machine and it does not have a riving knife, if there are any owners out there, or if there are any other brands that are the same saw, I'd like to get a patern of an existing one if anyone could help I'd appreciate that.

    Welcome to the Forum, Shayne.

I haven't used that saw but an old thread suggests that the Carbatec TS-12R did come with a riving knife. It may be worth contacting Carbatec to see if they can still supply a part for a 10-15 year old saw.
Tablesaw with easily removeable riving knife

That same thread also suggests that Biesemeyer made a retro-fit quick remove splitter that was better and sturdier than the original. [NB: The link that they give is no longer active.]

Thanks guys, Il touch base with Carbatech today and see how lucky I get. Maybe my luck has run out, I was lucky enough to pick up this saw from a local high School for just $350 NZ. ...Cheers20210719_052242.jpg

It looks really good condition, to, Shayne. And it survived the kids - probably the hardest testing ground for equipment!

It might also be worth asking one of the trade teachers if the still have the riving knife. If so, a suitable donation ....

Reminds me. A few years ago, on the local councils biannual "hard rubbish day" a friend's kid picked up a wide screen TV from the kerb - it worked well. He went back next day, knocked on the door, and politely asked if they still had the remote - they did - and appologised for not putting it out with the TV.

My pleasure, if you lived in Brisbane, id just give then for you to copy. There is a plastic guard also for the saw but I don't use mine.
Great saw, other than a right tilt which means you have to move the fence to the left side of the blade for angled cuts.
Use an engineers square and or a digital cube to get the 0degrees on the blade and then square the blade to the mitre slot. There are 4 large bolts that hold the cast iron top on so loosening them will allow you to align the mitre slot to the blade. Then align the fence to the mitre slot.
Fence is a good reliable biesemeyer copy and works fine.Any questions pm me.
    Also mine uses a 15amp plug 240v

Thanks so much, I made the riving knife last night and the metal I used was 2.5 mm as Im using a 3.2mm kerf. However the length of it seems to make it a bit flimsy. Il test it once the weekend comes around

Frank Howarth has a pretty simple splitter hack for saws without riving knives (as an alternative) -
