Yes makes good sense. I can see that the flat back would ensure the blades aligned correctly.

If you buy the Hafco give it a once over before use. After a year or so of light use I decided to spin the blades and found 1 set of 4 blades had a flat side addressing the wood.

Well I guess the silver lining is that you now have one set with nice new blade edges!!!

If SJE doesn't have the ones you want have a look on eBay or Aliexpress.
Have you ever seen these on Aliexpress? I've had a good search but could not find any the same.
As always with Aliexpress, it's all in the search terms, so if you've seen these, I'm keen to hear.

SJE has the cutters. I bought a set for the same thicknesser.

If SJE has them why would you even bother looking elsewhere? Any possible saving is going to be insignificant, he guarantees the fitment and quality and he's fast.

I buy from Aliexpress on a regular basis, usually inks for my Epson printer, paying usually around $11 for a full set, delivered, and they work fine. I bother because I have found so often that like the inks, the same items are available for a fraction of the price, and are worth a try at least. I had a large commercial size HP Plotter, worth new over $10k, but had sat neglected for a few years. With a set of inks and a drive belt costing over $400, I took a punt on a $5 belt, and a $46 full set of inks, and they were all perfect. I also recently bought a carburettor diaphragm on Aliexpress for $9.90 delivered vs $55 everywhere else I looked.
So in my experience it can definitely be worth a look, and the savings significant.

In this case I couldn't find the same cutters, though it may be just because I don't have the right terminology, so I have today ordered the set from SJE for $108 delivered.

I also today paid $693 for the Hafco T-13S thicknesser, which will probably get delivered Friday or Monday.
