    Default Carcass joinery question

I am building a display cabinet out of seasoned Australia cedar. The construction is dowel joined style and rail with the sides having glass panels and the back has a floating timber panel. Can I fix the back to the sides eg biscuit/ domino or do I need to fix it in a way that allows seasonal movement. The width of the styles is 70 mm so I don't expect much movement but obviously there will be some. I was hoping to fix it to give the cabinet some stability. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It will be ok to solidly join the back frame to the sides. Make sure you have enough room around your floating panel so the panel doesn't break the joints when it moves.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Thank you that is the answer I was hoping for. Regarding the floating panel I have allowed 6 mm movement over a width of 600 mm hopefully this is enough. I appreciate your time

Sounds quite enough. A tip is to put a dab of glue in the centre top & bottom, to stop the panel slopping around.
