Be careful
Guys it does happen, we loose concentration for a second and accidents happen.
I was lucky yesterday, I took about an 8mm disc about 4 mm thick off the top of my right thumb on my router table.
It was my own fault I should have been more aware of myself.
So just be careful so you can enjoy this wonderful hobby woodwork
Matt.

That distraction for me today could have been
1 The dove which had swooped down off the top shelf and skimmed my head while I was sanding on the lathe.
2 neighbours driving past waving I had just stopped the lathe
3 A loud bang in the street

Not the sharpest tool in the shed
Gotta keep your wits about you when using sharpies.

Was the router ok, we wouldn't want to do any damage to our tools.
SBPower corrupts, absolute power means we can run a hell of alot of power tools

I remember many years ago when I was still a kid my dad once almost cut all his fingers off on a table saw, I had to bandage them up because my mom passed out.. He went to hospital to get stitched and luckily he didn't lose any fingers.

I've got all my fingers but I have plenty of hand scars. I have fingers that lack full mobility due to broken bones or nerve/cartilage damage.
Sure, I have drawn blood in the shed but never enough to cause a permanent scar. All other injuries have occurred outside the shed.
The worst injury prevents me placing my left hand down flat because the little finger wont straighten. It makes life difficult when pushing timber through a machine, my Grr-rippers are my friend. This injury was from having to disarm a psychopath with a knife. Our wonderful legal system said it was ok though; he was having a bad day because he forgot to take his medication and it was a full moon.
The next worst was an accident when disconnecting a heavy trailer from my vehicle and resulted in crushing the last joint of my ring finger on my left hand. It was as flat as a 20c piece and about twice as round. It came back to its normal shape but is bent back from straight. This is probably the only wound on my hands that I could have avoided by doing things differently.
I suppose I need to go out and get a few shed-related injuries so that we all have something in common
Cheers
