First cedar chest
Hey, I am a beginner to woodworking and have completed a few projects. I am coming to the end of my current project, my first cedar chest. Its just a basic box with a lid, nothing fancy. I used tongue and grove cedar planks for the sides and lid, 1X2 cedar boards for the bottom and top inside frame and used 1X4 cedar boards for the bottom and braces for the sides and lid. My measurements were a little off so i decided to leave some air gaps in the bottom, live and learn, lol. Still waiting for the hardware to arrive. I want the inside to remain raw so that the cedar aroma remains. I am thinking about using Tung oil on the exterior. I've never used Tung oil before and I am looking for advice on application. Is there a better option? My goal is to show off the natural beauty and color of the cedar and give the wood some protection.

A popular finish over your way is Waterlox Sealer and Finisher which is Tung oil based.
