Centre Finder
Recently I needed to find exact centre of some largish square and round legs.
in the past I have marked squares and crossed diagonals, slow to get it exact but it works. Had a look at some commercial jigs, small and didn’t look all that flash, besides, not living in the big smoke, not available locally. I remember as a kid, in the days of black&white that you could get metal set squares, tried but no joy.
The square legs had large round overs on the edges so couldn’t just corner the diagonals. The jig is made up of scrap coated with some leftover green stain and the large button head screws were used on purpose to support the plastic 45 degree set square. The joint is a double dado or blind lap joint, call it what you like and the short extension beyond the joint makes a perfect 2 finger handle. The joint is only glued but dowel pinned underneath.
Hope it helps someone out.
PS. I forgot to add that I’m right handed, so the set square is mounted on the left arm, if you are left handed it will be easier to mount the set square on the right arm.Last edited by Bob38S; 12th November 2019 at 11:44 PM. Reason: PS added.

Video, Works just as well and just adds to the ideas bank.
Had a look at my uploaded picture and can assure all that the angle between the arms is exactly 90 degrees. My photographic skills need a little work, obviously.Regards,
Bob
