I'm certain you will if you persevere. I am entirely self-taught on the practical side, though I did go to college to study antique furniture for a year. The best advice I can offer (assuming you're interested in antiques) is to visit museums, exhibitions, antiques fairs and good antiques dealers shops and study, ponder and dissect everything you see and especially try to decipher how the old craftsmen produced their work.
Once you get a handle on that, then you can begin to reproduce their work and/or restore antique furniture sympathetically..
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
