Chair Design
Is there any reason why the sides of a dining chair couldn't be made of a couple of torsion boxes.
This could give a chunky appearance without being heavy
Any traps to watch out for

Bob, I reckon torsion boxes could be made quite slim and serve the purpose very well - if you like the look of a large flat panel as the chair's side.
It could certainly work as a seat support.
Methinks I'd need to play with the drawing board a bit to see if it would work for me as side panels.

No problems at all Bob, search Frank Gehry, or perhaps 'cardboard chair' for inspiration.
how about these? http://www.designboom.com/cardboard3.html

If it can be done in cardboard, it'd be a doddle in ply.
Cheers,
P

You can make the whole chair out of a torsion box
