Default Cheese Board Gift from an old floor board

My wife asked if I could make a "Cheese Board" as a gift for a friend at work.
I did a bit of hunt around the shed to find a nice piece of timber.
I found an old fllor board, about a metre of the old 6" hardwood flooring.
Well did it look very pretty when I did a cleanup cut on its end.
Took off the tongue & groove cutting 2 pieces about 200mm.
Biscuit joined them together to make an almost square.
Put the joined section through the thicknesser to remove the ribs on the bottom.
Routed the edge and did lots of sanding.
I think it's come up okay.
    Cheers, crowie

PS - Can someone identify the type of timber please!!

See, that's no good - it's far to lady nice, all bright & shiny.

Your wife's friend with be pleased to receive it but will be scared to use it in-case she scratches it!

I made a dibber for a lady at work, exactly the same, 'It's too nice to use, I don't want to get it dirty!'

That notwithstanding, a damn fine cheeseboard you made there crowie.

    Timber could be Blue Gum

Looks brilliant, a silk purse from a sow's ear.
