    Default Chewed stair thread

Help. Any suggestions on how to repair these stair treads that have been chewed by a dog, and yes the client has got rid of the dog.

Sorry the image needs rotating to be the correct orientation.

The bottom step has some light chewing, probably just need sanding and resealing.
The next step up has been well nibbled on. How can this tread be repaired?

    Thanking you in advance.

Cut the front of the tread off with a circular saw/router and straight edge and glue a new strip on, then sand and varnish etc.

Can you take the tread off? If so, I'd run it through the table saw to remove a long strip along the front. Then glue a new strip to replace the old wood and sand, varnish as per the above suggestion.

The damage seems to be at one end, so you could also just take off a bit of timber to remove the damaged wood, and add a small block to replace it.

Although not shown in image, damage is to both the front corner and rear corner of the tread. The other end is up against a wall.
I am not 100% sure, but there appears to be three metal strips running across the top front of the tread.

What should one use to reseal, and is it available in a small quantity?
