His English is good, but he lives in The Netherlands, so not local to us. The prices that Dennis quotes are in US$, so don't forget to take that in to account. It certainly is nice to have someone do the leg work for us, saves buying a lot of stuff that only eventually disappoints. Thanks Dennis.

Author isn't selling anything, so I don't think it is.

It's an online product review of a couple of products - the videos are well produced, and very informative. Several members have expressed appreciation of this type of content in the past, hence this post is simply here informing those who are interested that another instalment is available.

Heads up on a digital height gauge: Carbatec has a good one on sale for $44 (about half the price of the one from Banggood, which looks good tho).

Yes, this is an advertisement. and advertisement to show that there are some very impressive low cost tools out of china that should not be dismissed.

needless to say our old Nordic mate might have to wait a while for his next batch of tools to arrive as the land of the red star is in shutdown mode.

My take on an advertisement is that it draws our attention to a product or theme for some degree of reward. That reward could be financial, but not necessarily, and my understanding at this stage is that there is no reward for Dennis personally. I am not well versed in the ways of the Internet, but it is possible that if enough people patronise (there's a lovely old term) his web site, his costs may break even or even make a little money, but I doubt it would come close to paying for his time.

What I am getting at is there seems to be little self interest and indeed there are products which clearly he does not recommend although he has reviewed them. I do note that he has now been sent some items instead of having to purchase them himself and providing he reviews them impartially I welcome his input.

I agree that the Coronavirus might put a dent in shipping for a while, although my impression was that bats may have been responsible for the virus more than aeroplanes or ships.

A quick Google search for "Affiliate links" and "Affiliate marketing" will explain everything.

I started my woodworking channel 10 months ago.
I have mostly high-quality products in my workshop. But I also always was fascinated with products from China. As a result, I bought a lot of tools from China. And sometimes I was really disappointed.
So, searching for content, I thought it would be nice to review these products. (the good and the bad) People liked it and the end of the week I will release Ep. 7
Meanwhile, my channel grows, and I have more than 12.000 subscribers, so people like Banggood starting to notice me. And they offer me to sent products and offer an Affiliate program.
This is very new. In Episode 5, they sent me products for the first time, and I did not like it that much, so I did not review it with a high score. This was not a big problem, because I have told them that I like to get products, but my soul is not for sale.
The products in this episode I bought myself, and also in episode 7 I bought myself. And from Episode 6 I get a small percentage if someone buys. I make these videos anyway, so I better get a little revenue from it.
All this is background noise. What is not change are my intentions for these reviews. My first review till the last are all the same. I try to do in-depth reviews of China Tools, were most reviewers in this field just turn a product around and give a thump up. Sometimes I am enthusiastic about it, and I try to explain why. And sometimes, I am not, and I try to explain why. If it is become an advertisement because of an affiliate program, then you are right. But my videos are still the same.
A video as this China Tool serie cost me 4 a 5 full-time days to produce from scratch. My other video usually's longer. I produce 2 video's a month, so I spend half of my time with it. Time I could spend on other things. I do not want to talk about money, but that affiliate program or the Youtube advertising revenues for a woodworking channel of my size is not a factor. No-one would put that time and effort in it for that revenue. So, what's left is the motivation to continue. And for me that is to share knowledge, challenge myself and in case of my China Tool series, inform you which product you can better avoid, and with product, you can consider when you are interesting.
But if it means I am not allowed to put the China tool links on, I can understand. The reason I still put a link here, is that people gives me thanks and like for it.

    Best regards,

    Dennis
