What is this? Saw clamp for sharpening
I got this with my big old bandsaw
I assumed it was for clamping the blade for sharpening
It has a dowel at one end presumably to adjust height of blade.
Is it for a bandsaw blade or is it universal for handsaws too?

On seeing the pix, it rings a bell.
Running on a not so good memory these days, I recall something similar that a mate's dad was using to sharpen a hand saw. The wooden block was clamped in a vice while he was using it, allowing him to use it at a comfortable height as he filed the teeth.Regards,
Bob

Almost certainly for bandsaw blades. I have an Ulmia version (different design). The give away is the narrow width of saw plate that will fit in the vise. Small image from web of Ulmia
