I'm away from home for some time so can't take pictures. There is a picture of my clamps on the previous page.
I made the end piece from the same square bar I used at the other end, 15mm square I think.
I cut about 20mm from the bar, drilled a hole 4mm diameter axially through it. Then opened it up to about 6mm for half its length ie. 10 mm.
I turned the end of the screw down for a length of about 13 mm so it fitted into the 4mm hole. The shoulder will be the bearing surface so finish it nicely.
That meant 3mm or so protruded into the 6mm diameter section of the block. After making sure the block swivelled freely, I rivetted this over slightly with a nail punch so it won't drop off.
Hope that helps. The dimensions are all from memory, but aren't critical.Cheers, Glen

You are right Ueee, there are many ways to improve on my efforts, some of which have already been posted. Some sort of locking pin would make use a little faster.
Gaza's aluminium clamps look the real deal!I am the Eggman coo coo catchoo.

Good Morning Egg and Gaza
Lovely work. One that will be copied... flattery!!!
One question and a follow up. What is the wall thickness of the rectangular tubes? Has their been any sign of the pin holes elongating or the tubes flexing under use??
Thanks.
A rule of thumb used by boat builders when converting from steel to aluminium is that steel is 50% stronger than aluminium, but three times the weight. So to build in Al one adds 50% to the plate thickness for the same strength and half the weight. (eg steel boat = 4 mm plate; Al boat = 6 mm plate)

we have given them a floogging no "pull" yet, i was worried about that i think its 3mm box section we used it cause i can get it cheaper than steel.
issue we had was nuts pulled out of the hardwood blocks when being cranked up we screwed on some steel bar to sort that out.

after todays horror
I had THREE clampups to do in one day. All of them flat.
The last was simple, but my goat had been got by that stage!!!! I am making some fake Frontlines tomorrow!!!
Shame the real ones are so expensive.
This was a "simple" clamp up..... simple, yeah.

Evan, as an aside, how did you manage to reply to this old thread? There has been no button for "I know it's old, but...." since the last forum upgrade.
