    Here's a clipboard I was asked to make for one of the big wigs in the Navy organisation in Canberra to get his/her daily signals on. For anyone interested in playing a guessing game I won't name the woods but have numbered them for you. The border is repeated in the strips of the board and some woods are repeated in the strips.

    Finish is a homemade WOP.

    I'll have a shot at 2 of them;

    5 looks to me like European Oak, and
    9 looks like Teak.

    I'll leave any Aus timbers for the locals to have a pop at.

    My guess of number 4 is Purpleheart.

    Ok, I thought 1, 6 & 8 were Cedar but there have been a few suggestions putting it as Meranti/Pacific Maple so I'm prepared to give it as that. I just hadn't seen Meranti that red before so figured it was something else

    The last un named one was # 3 but it's one of the repeated woods so I will save everyone the trouble of playing along... it's Teak. The Teak has a bit of a naval significance as it was once part of the deck to the Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour. The border is more Meranti.

    The board was presented this morning and apparently was well received
