Default What to do with two Clydesdales??

My Dad has built over the years 8 of the "Clyde and Dale" horses that woodmemories sells plans for. He also built the wagon to go with them. He had a bleed in his brain in May and is not himself anymore. He has to live in 24 hour assisted living now. But before that happened he gave me and my brothers two each. So we have two left and the wagon. I was thinking of donating them somewhere but have not a clue as to where. Has anyone here ever donated some of their work to any organization?

    thanks

    Hi
as a horse owner of some 37 years I can honestly say any breeder of clydesdales / shire horses would LOVE them. Or a museum of history / brewery type place that used horses to pull their wagons. A mill or logging company that had a display of logging over time.

That work looks beautiful and I personally couldn't bear to part with it!! So you would be looking for somewhere very special I would imagine.

Good luck and I hope your Dad is doing OK

PS what about a Cobb and Co or Wells Fargo type display - early transportation?

    Default Donations for good causes

    Hi,
I recently donated a painting to the local Rotary Club which was raffled to raise money to help build a school in Cambodia.
I suggest you contact local organisations which may be raising money for causes which you would like to support and donate the Clydesdales for them to raffle. My painting raised over $1000, they should get more for your horses.
Haiti would be a good cause at the moment, I would think. It might not help immediately, but they will need ongoing help.

Thank you for the compliments JD. At one time my brothers wanted to give up all 8 horses but I talked my dad into giving each of us 2. They are pretty big so they are not easy to store. I was thinking of someone that could display them and keep kids off of them.

Thank you for the advice Prime mover, I have thought about a donation for someone like the Ronald McDonald house or a local children's hospital.

Are these replicas of the Budweiser horse & cart? If so there may be a market for those who collect memorabilia for taverns etc.

I had a thought of something similar. Perhaps you could approach Budweiser and offer the set if they would donate to ??????

    Just a thought...
